DRUSILLA
Intro A mad seer -- a vampire created in 1860 -- one fourth of 'The Scourge of Europe. And for some reason, very very difficult to kill.

Personality Drusilla is playful and girlish, even when talking about dark subjects such as murder and torment. Her mind was broken before she was turned, and she often speaks in rambling metaphor. This makes it difficult for her to communicate her visions, evne when she's actually trying to do so.

Appearance Drusilla has an unnaturally pale complexion, clear blue eyes, and long, dark brown hair. She is 5' 6" in height. She always keeps her fingernails long and sharp.

Interests At times, Drusilla has shown an interest in things she may have loved as a human -- gardening, caring for small animals -- but her vampire nature and her madness make her a danger. She often ends up ruining or outright killing what she tries to care for.

Family Drusilla's human family was slaughtered in front of her, one by one, in a bid to drive her mad. This succeeded, and in response she began referring to the vampires who tormented her as her family -- her sire Angelus was "daddy", and his sire Darla was "grandmum". Later, guided by her visions, she turned a young man named William, though in her madness she was ill-equipped to care for a fledgling vampire and the responsibility fell to Angelus.

Opt-In Post for Drusilla's hypnotism power

Backtagging: Yes (message me if unsure)
Threadhopping: Yes (hyperlinks to connect threads appreciated)
Fourthwalling: Maybe? (recognizing Drusilla as a vampire is fine; I'm leery of having people recognize her as "from that television show")
Offensive subjects: None come to mind.

Hugging this character: Not recommended.
Kissing this character: Not recommended.
Flirting with this character: Yes.
Fighting with this character: Yes.
Injuring this character: Yes.
Killing this character: I mean it hardly even sticks in canon! (That's a yes.)
Using mind reading abilities on this character: ...oh honey no, it's not safe. (In the "Spike" comics I took art from, a telepath looks into her mind and passes out for like two whole issues.) To be serious, you can use telepathy on Drusilla, but her madness is canonically overwhelming, and she is highly skilled in the hypnotic powers that her type of vampire possess.

Drusilla's birthday is March 30, 1828 {Non-canonical - the date is her actress Juliet Landau's birthday. Juliet was 32 when the character's debut episode "School Hard" premiered on September 29, 1997.}

Drusilla had seriously considered joining a convent. Her mother told her that her precognitive ability was an affront to the Lord, and Drusilla thought of it a curse.

Perhaps it was... aside from her sweet and chaste personality, which the vampires would enjoy spoiling, it was her precognitive ability that brought her to the attention of Darla... and in turn Angelus.

Angelus stalked her for a prolonged period of time, and then butchered her family one by one in her home, forcing her to watch. He allowed her to flee, and she sought refuge in a convent.

On the night that she was to take her holy vows, Angelus broke in and massacred the sisters who had sheltered her. This broke Drusilla's mind, and she slipped into a semi-catatonic state, babbling to herself. Angelus tortured her physically before finally turning her into a vampire. The year was 1860.
{The timeline is never really laid out, but I believe a noviate must work/train for about two years before taking holy vows is possible. In light of this, Drusilla's family may have been killed in 1858 -- it fits with Angelus's cruel nature that he would leave her alone for two years, long enough for Drusilla to believe she is safe, before violently ripping that illusion away.}

Hypnotism
Vampires of Drusilla's ilk have an enthralling voice and can hypnotise their prey. Older vampires in particular are shown to sometimes compel people to obey them, an ability that is particularly potent when eye contact is maintained.

Hypnotism (AKA enthralling) targets the victim's actions and perceptions, not their thoughts. Strong-willed victims can be aware that they are under someone's control and acting contrary to their own desires.

Canonically, Drusilla's own skill with hypnotism is shown in the episode where she kills Kendra Young, the Slayer after Buffy. When trying to extract information about Acathla from the Watcher, Rupert Giles, Drusilla alters his auditory and visual perception to make him believe he is speaking to his ally Jenny Calendar instead of the vampire.

Naturally, in roleplay, such a powerful ability will be opt-in and any attempts the character makes will be clearly spelled out in narration.

The dirge is playing all out of tune.
All is breaking loose and
...falling.

They held me for a time, but
all those sharp mean whispers
digging in like claws, until I
couldn't
be silent be still be safe anymore.
'Twas a beast they caged,
and a beast who feasted.

Hell came for us all and I was home.
